What You Need To Know

On fourteen occasions this week AlertsUSA subscribers were notified via SMS messages to their mobile devices regarding a variety of safety and security matters. Nine of these alerts (above) dealt with developments related to the 'Stop the Steal' rally in Washington DC and the siege on the U.S. Capitol. This string of alerts began with a cautionary message issued two days earlier warning of the widespread calls for counter protests and violence by multiple far left organizations.

Federal investigators are sifting through evidence and pursuing a variety of theories, in order to unravel how the Wednesday protest rally morphed into an assault on the U.S. Capitol. Five people died as a result of the violent incident and dozens were injured.

There is growing evidence that members of Antifa disguised as Trump supporters infiltrated the protesters who stormed the U.S. Capitol building. According to a report by the NY Post, known Antifa members were spotted among the throngs of pro-Trump protesters.

Antifa has previously encouraged members to disguise themselves in order to sow confusion and manipulate popular opinion. An example of a graphic providing this very guidance is shown below.

National Guard Moving In

During a Jan. 7 joint press conference with the Mayor of DC and the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department, Army Secretary Ryan D. McCarthy said a total of 6,200 National Guard troops from D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and New York would be in the National Capital Region by this weekend. The Guard personnel are on a minimum 30-day deployment to the Capitol grounds and other locations throughout the District. The troops would work on 12-hour shifts, with about 850 per shift helping to protect the Capitol building.

Future Outlook

This disheartening election process and outcome does not bode well for the security of the U.S. homeland, as well as for our citizens and interests abroad. A large portion of the U.S. population now knows there was widespread fraud and irregularities in at least the six key battleground states. You can read a summary of the evidence here. The fact that the election outcome was finalized, despite all of the normal constitutional remedies, is resulting in a sharp loss of trust in a key foundational pillar of the Republic. This fraudulent outcome dramatically amplifies partisan and ideological divisions and will likely lead to significant violence and social unrest in the coming months. Count on it. One side is arrogant and emboldened, and the other side is understandably angry. And this is over and above the broader national security implications of the stated policies of the incoming administration.

Changes promised by the Biden/Harris administration include a repeal of what the Left referred to as the "Muslim Ban," which prevents entry of foreign nationals from seven predominantly Muslim nations who cannot be adequately vetted during the visa application process. Those nations are Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen. The incoming administration has also promised to dramatically increase the number of Syrian refugees resettled in the country. As has been repeatedly seen across Europe, members of the Islamic State and Al Qaeda have used these programs to enter western nations and carry out attacks. Both organizations actually encourage the practice in their online propaganda.

The new administration has also promised a dramatic reversal of strong immigration and refugee policies for citizens of Mexico, Central and South America. In anticipation of the forthcoming policy changes in this area, multiple agencies involved in border security are reporting increasing apprehensions as migrants attempt to gain entry into the country.

And perhaps most dangerous, the new administration is promising changes in the strong foreign policy positions with Iran, China, Russia and N. Korea. So as to highlight where this might lead, during a key ruling party meeting Friday, N. Korean dictator Kim Jong Un threatened to expand his nuclear arsenal with more sophisticated weapons.

Also this week, Iran notified the IAEA it has begun enriching uranium to 20% and warned it could could "easily" start enriching the nuclear fuel up to the 90 percent mark, which is just around the weapons-grade level.

In a statement released Wednesday, the foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany voiced their "deep concern" about the move, saying, "This action, which has no credible civil justification, carries very significant proliferation-related risks."

There is also significant evidence that the Biden family is vulnerable to blackmail and foreign influence due to questionable overseas business dealings over the course of many years. A number of articles burrowing down on this topic can be found here.

Tighten your safety straps, folks. There are dangerous times ahead.

AlertsUSA continues to monitor the domestic and international threat environment around the clock and will immediately notify service subscribers, via SMS messages to their mobile devices, of new alerts, warnings and advisories or any developments which signal a change the overall threat picture for American citizens as events warrant.

Coronavirus Update

January 9, 2021
What You Need To Know

According to data provided by the COVID Tracking Project, in the first week of 2021, US states and territories reported more cases of COVID-19 than at any point in the pandemic so far, and the second-highest number of deaths. Holiday data reporting slowdowns from Christmas and New Year’s are likely still affecting most metrics—most notably reported tests, which remain well below pre-holiday levels. Hospitalizations, our most stable metric through the holidays, continue to march upward.

As of Friday at 6:00 PM ET, there were a record 3,777 deaths reported for the day. In total, 368,685 deaths in the U.S. have been attributed to the virus.

State and local leaders have enacted further restrictions in the hope of preserving hospital resources and stopping yet another surge surrounding the Christmas holiday.

COVID-19 Restriction Maps can be found here and here.

Strategy and Competition at the Ends of the Earth

The Arctic and Antarctica are well-known Cold War theaters. While these frozen frontiers hosted strategic competition between the United States and the Soviet Union, they also produced legacies of cooperation that have extended through the twentieth and into the twenty-first centuries. Indeed, the polar regions continue to host cooperative relations between Washington and Moscow, despite cooler ties elsewhere. Why is this the case? Perhaps more crucially, how can this current climate of cooperation between Russia and the West within these regions be bolstered for another thirty years? And what might fracture it?

On Wednesday, a mob apparently composed of Trump supporters forced its way past US Capitol security guards and briefly moved unrestrained through much of the Capitol building. They displayed virtually no organization and no clear goals.

Congressmen Beating the Drum for Iran's Mullahs

Amid the pandemic, some US Congressmen already appear to be spending their political capital on one thing: Appeasing the Iranian regime and pushing for a softer policy towards the mullahs. More than 100 Congressmen recently signed a letter expressing their support and urging presumptive President-Elect Joe Biden to rejoin the nuclear deal, which, incidentally, Iran never signed.
