What You Need To Know

On nine occasions this week AlertsUSA subscribers were notified via SMS messages to their mobile devices regarding safety and security matters.

Beginning last Sunday (4/22), AlertsUSA subscribers were notified of the release of a new audio message from Abul-Hasan Al-Muhajir, the official spokesman of the Islamic State. Within the rambling, nearly hour-long Arabic language lecture entitled, "By Their Example, Be Guided", Muhajir begins by praising jihadists who took part in multiple attacks in Paris, London, and New York City. In a recurring theme since the fall of the Islamic State's self-declared capital of Raqqa, Syria, and overall significant batlefield losses, Muhajir goes on to explain that the Jihad has entered "new stage," that it has been down before and revived, and that it can never be completely destroyed due to the resolve of its members and their adherence to the correct doctrine and religious practice.

Readers are reminded that in Muhajir's last speech (June 2017), he recalled famous battles from early Islamic history in which Muslims prevailed despite being outnumbered, and called for lone-wolf-style attacks in the U.S. and Europe, including in Russia. In the following months, attacks ultimately claimed by the Islamic State were carried out in New York, Las Vegas, Paris, Marseille, London, Brussels, Hamburg, Barcelona, Turku, Finland, Surgut, and Russia’s Dagestan republic.

In a distinct departure from emphasizing attacks on western countries, Muhajir continues by calling for violence against neighboring Arab nations, describing them as "apostates" for having strayed from the traditional interpretation of the faith, and suggests there is "no difference" between fighting the leaders of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iran and the Palestinians “and their American Crusader allies, or the Russians or the Europeans."

Muhajir also stated that two non-Arab nations, Russia and Iran, were now seeking to “inherit what the US had left”, and urged the Islamic State’s militants to also target these two countries.

Muhajir also mocks the United States and President Trump, asking, "What victory are you claiming, America? The mujahideen are still in a position of power, glory, strength, resolve, foresight, unity, and a better position than when you had left Iraq defeated years ago."

Iran's Khamenei Urges Muslim Nations to Unite Against the U.S.

On Thursday, subscribers were also notified of a call by Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei for all Muslim nations to "stand united against America and other enemies." Speaking on state television, as well as within a string of messages posted to Twitter, Khamenei called on the Muslim world to unite against America and "other domineering powers," and said President Trump’s recent boasting that some Arab regimes would collapse within a week without US support was a “humiliation.”

Khamenei's comments come as a deadline looms next month for President Trump to decide on ending the Obama Administration's nuclear deal which lifted many western sanctions in exchange for curbs on Iran's nuclear program. As AlertsUSA warned subscribers earlier in the week, it is highly likely that Khamenei's comments will be leveraged by Islamist terror organizations to rally anti-Western sentiment.

Readers are reminded that the State Department's annual "Country Reports on Terrorism" continues to list Iran as the world's "foremost" state sponsor of terrorism.

US Embassies Warn of Continuing Threat of Terrorist Attacks

On Monday, subscribers were notified of cautionary messages issued by US Embassies warning that terrorists remain intent on targeting U.S. citizens, including children. Quoting from the alert message:

"The U.S. government remains concerned that terrorists are intent on targeting U.S. citizens, including children. Terrorists may employ a variety of tactics, such as violent assaults and kidnappings. In the past they have used knives, guns, and vehicles as ramming devices. They may target schools, hospitals, churches, tourist locations, transportation hubs, and other public venues."

AlertsUSA cautions listeners that we are now entering into the warmer months which typically heralds an increased tempo of terrorist attacks in Western nations. Vigilance and increased personal security awareness are urged.

AlertsUSA continues to monitor the domestic and international threat environment and will immediately notify service subscribers, via SMS messages, of new alerts, warnings and advisories or any developments which signal a change the overall threat picture for American citizens as events warrant.

Islamic State Ramadan Motivaltional Poster - ALLOW IMAGES

CAUTION: Ramadan is Just Weeks Away !

April 28, 2018

Ramadan is the ninth month on the Islamic (lunar) calendar and for Muslims the world over, the month long celebration of their prophet’s unveiling of the Koran means fasting, joyous times with the family, sweets for the children (after sundown, of course), spiritual introspection, and for some - murder, mayhem and bloody attacks against infidels.

Politically incorrect? Yup. Is it the truth? Absolutely.

In past years, Islamic State officials have claimed that the heightened religiosity of the Ramadan season meant spiritual rewards for terrorist acts would be even greater than normal.

In 2016, an Islamic State spokesman explicitly encouraged worldwide attacks against non-Muslims, supported by details of how to inflict mass casualties. (See the Islamic State's 2016 Ramadan motivational poster above as just one example.)

The results were devastating: 421 people were killed and 729 wounded across nearly 15 countries.

In 2017, the Islamic State issued multiple messages urging its sympathizers and followers to carry out deadly attacks during Ramadan, namely in the United States, Europe, Russia, Australia, Iraq, Syria, Iran, and the Philippines.

With the exception of Russia, jihadists carried out attacks in all of the listed locations, resulting in more than triple the number of causalities from the previous year: 1,627 murders and 1,824 injuries.

Ramadan Bombathon 2017: Five Takeaways (Short Informative Video)

Keep in mind the following targeting information from the U.S. State Department Worldwide Caution issued January 11, 2018:

Terrorist groups including ISIS, al-Qa'ida, their associates, and those inspired by such organizations, are intent on attacking U.S. citizens wherever they are. Extremists may use conventional or non-conventional weapons to target U.S. government and private interests. Terrorists are increasingly using less sophisticated methods of attack to more effectively target crowds, including the use of edged weapons, pistols, and vehicles as weapons. Extremists increasingly aim to assault "soft" targets, such as:

  • high-profile public events (sporting contests, political rallies, demonstrations, holiday events, celebratory gatherings, etc.)
  • hotels, clubs, and restaurants
  • places of worship
  • schools
  • parks
  • shopping malls and markets
  • tourism infrastructure
  • public transportation systems
  • airports

In the U.S., Ramadan 2018 will begin in the evening of Tuesday, May 15 and end in the evening of Thursday, June 14.

AlertsUSA urges readers to exercise vigilance and increase personal security awareness during this time period.
