On Thursday afternoon, AlertsUSA subscribers were notified of the indictment of former President Donald Trump by the Biden Justice Department, his scheduled arraignment on Tuesday afternoon at the federal courthouse in Miami, Florida, and the anticipated protests and counter protests around the facility.
Security will be tight, with many of the roads around Government Center and the Wilkie D. Ferguson U.S. Courthouse, at 400 N. Miami Ave., closed well before President Trump's arrival. There are a growing number of calls for protests and demonstrations from every possible political angle, calls for truckers to clog up the downtown area with their rigs, and not surprising, even some members of Congress are voicing outrage and promising their presence.
Readers are cautioned that tensions are high, and this court appearance has the potential to be a chaotic scene, not only in the immediate area around the court house, but in other areas of Miami and Palm Beach in the coming weeks and months as the trial progresses. The U.S. Marshal Service, which provides courthouse security, issued the following statement:
“The U.S. Marshals are responsible for the protection of the federal judicial process, and we take that responsibility very seriously. Ensuring that judges can rule independently and free from harm or intimidation is paramount to the rule of law, and a fundamental mission of the USMS.”
As of the time of this report's preparation Friday evening, only minimal information had been released by law enforcement regarding security preparations.
AlertsUSA subscribers should anticipate all manner of public demonstrations in the coming weeks, many with potential for violence. As has often been seen in the past, groups such as Antifa and affiliated organizations could seek to exploit otherwise lawful gatherings to advance their own movement’s goals and agendas.
Given these variables, if you will be participating in any public gathering related to this trial, it is strongly recommended that you leave ALL electronic devices that utilize cellular and/or web services at home or in your hotel room. This will help prevent possibly being caught up in a surveillance dragnet operation if demonstrations become violent.
Guidance if in the vicinity:
- Follow all law enforcement directives.
- Identify formal exits and other points of egress.
- Your head should be on a swivel scanning your surroundings.
- Change location if you sense agitation or a crowd getting out of control.
- Avoid standing on or near structures that could collapse.
- Ideally stay at the edges of a crowd, never in the center.
- Walk around crowds rather than pushing through them.
- If caught in a moving crowd, move diagonally towards the edge.
