Last Sunday, AlertsUSA subscribers were informed of a mass stabbing attack in which 10 people were killed and 18 others injured across 13 different crime scenes on the James Smith Cree Nation indian reserve and in the nearby village of Weldon, Saskatchewan. This is a remote area located approximately 200 miles north of the province's capital city, Regina.
In this incident, Cree Nation police and the RCMP started receiving calls early in the day as the stabbings began to unfold. More reports of attacks followed and by afternoon, police were issuing warning messages to residents of the indian reserve, and later, to three different Canadian provinces. Early on, police identified two suspects in the attacks, brothers Damien and Myles Sanderson, aged 30 and 31 respectively.
On Monday police said Damien Sanderson's body had been found in a heavily grassed area near a house that was being investigated. Police went on to say that his injuries were "not believed to be self-inflicted."
On Wednesday, Myles Sanderson was spotted driving a stolen truck near Rosthern, Sask. about 100 miles to the west. Police in an unmarked cruiser used a pit maneuver to force him off the road where he was taken into custody. He died a short time later of what police are thus far referring to simply as "medical distress."
No solid motive had been established for the attacks, some of which appear targeted.
This was one of the deadliest mass killings in the Canada's history.
Madman in Memphis
Also on Wednesday, AlertsUSA subscribers were notified of a manhunt underway for an individual driving around Memphis, TN shooting random people while live streaming to social media.
The hours-long rampage had police warning people across the city to shelter in place, locking down a baseball stadium and university campuses, and suspending public bus services as frightened residents wondered where the man might strike next.
Memphis Police say said four people were killed and three others wounded in seven different shootings and at least two carjackings... before Ezekiel Kelly, age 19, was arrested later in the evening in South Memphis after crashing a stolen car.
As it turns out, Kelly was released from prison six months ago, after serving just 11 months of a three year for an aggravated assault charge that stemmed from a shooting in early February 2020.
