Another U.S. School Shooting...

October 2, 2021
On Oct 1st, the following related Flash SMS
messages were sent to AlertsUSA subscriber mobile devices:

10/1 - AlertsUSA monitoring response to reports of shots fired, YES Prep Southwest Secondary School, Houston, TX. Scene still active. Add'l alerts as warranted.

10/1 - No students injured in YES Prep SW Secondary School shooting incident. One administrator transported to hospital with injuries. One shooter in custody.

What You Need To Know

On Friday of this week, AlertsUSA subscribers were notified of an active attack event unfolding at the YES Prep Southwest Secondary School in Houston, Texas.

According to Houston Police Chief Troy Finner, this incident began when a 25-YO black male, identified late in the day as Dexter Kelsey (see inset image above), approached the locked front entrance to the school with a rifle. Kelsey proceeded to shoot through the glass door in order to gain entry into the building. Upon entering, he immediately opened fire, shooting one administrator in the back before quickly being surrounded by police and ultimately surrendering.

The victim, identified as the school principal, Eric Espinoza, was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. However, officials say Espinoza was released from the hospital on Friday with bullet fragments in his back which do not impact any vital organs.

Due to the shooting, Houston ISD locked down their campuses as a precaution. Police have given no motive for the suspects actions.

YES Prep Southwest Secondary is a charter school that serves students in the 6th - 12th grades. The campus has an enrollment of more than 1,000 students.

Readers are reminded that just last week, AlertsUSA subscribers were notified of a shooting at Heritage High School in Newport News, VA. In that incident, two students were seriously wounded.

The shooting happened about 30 miles from the site of one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history. A then-17-year-old armed with a shotgun and a pistol opened fire at Santa Fe High School in May 2018, killing 10 people, most of whom were students.

Parents of school-aged children may want to use this opportunity to gather and review the family safety plan. Remember, your family may not be together when an emergency or disaster strikes. As such, it is important to know what types of emergencies could affect your area, how you’ll contact one another and reconnect if separated, as well as setting a family meeting place that’s familiar and easy to find.

The following resources can help you make quick work of this essential task.

AlertsUSA continues to monitor the domestic and international threat environment around the clock and will immediately notify service subscribers, via SMS messages to their mobile devices, of new alerts, warnings and advisories or any developments which signal a change the overall threat picture for American citizens as events warrant.

"I want to thank you for your service last night. I work weird hours at the Minneapolis Airport and left work at 11p last night. I heard sirens and decided to check my phone. You had texted at 10:58p about the riots. Knowing that I can trust AlertUSA's reporting, I made the decision to call my manager to inform him of your alert. We had many employees leaving for home and he thanked me for calling. Thank you once again for your service to our Country and the world."

Are Directed-Energy Weapons Behind the Havana Syndrome?

The latest episodes of so-called Havana syndrome, a series of unexplained ailments afflicting U.S. and Canadian diplomats and spies, span the globe. They include two diplomats in Hanoi, Vietnam—which disrupted Vice President Kamala Harris’s foreign travel schedule—in August, several dozen reports at the U.S. Embassy in Vienna earlier this year, and a pair of incidents at the White House last November.

The cause of these incidents is unknown, but speculation in the U.S. centers on electromagnetic beams.
