Biden’s Chilling ‘Nuclear Armageddon’ Warning

October 8, 2022
What You Need To Know

During a Thursday night fundraiser held at a private home in New York City, President Joe Biden warned the United States is on the brink of nuclear “Armageddon” with Russia over Ukraine.

"For the first time since the Cuban Missile Crisis, we have a direct threat of the use of nuclear weapons, if in fact things continue down the path they'd been going."

Discussing Putin, Biden added;

“He is not joking when he talks about potential use of tactical nuclear weapons or biological and chemical weapons, because his military is, you might say, significantly underperforming."

Biden said the US and allies are trying to figure out Putin’s off-ramp... Where does he find a way out? Where is the position he does not lose face or significant power in Russia?

U.S. officials for months have warned of the prospect that Russia could use weapons of mass destruction in Ukraine as it has faced strategic setbacks on the battlefield, though Biden’s remarks carried the starkest warnings yet by the U.S. government about the nuclear stakes.

European leaders said Friday that US President Joe Biden’s warning about Russia’s possible use of nuclear weapons shows the seriousness of the threat from Moscow’s escalation in Ukraine.

HHS Stocks Up On Drugs For Radiation Sickness

While the White House made a clumsy attempt at walking back Joe Biden's comments, another data point for consideration is that on Wednesday, Health and Human Services (HHS) announced that it would spend $290 million to secure an undisclosed quantity of a drug known as Nplate, which has been approved to treat blood cell injuries caused by acute radiation syndrome (ARS) in both children and adults. Nplate was previously approved for treatment of thrombocytopenia (low platelet levels) in 2008.

Readers will recall that last week, AlertsUSA Threat Journal reported on Russia's illegal annexation of four regions of Ukraine following sham referendums held two weeks ago. During a concert following the treaty signing ceremonies last Friday, Putin went on a tirade about authorities in Kyiv and “their real masters in the West.” He made sweeping proclamations blaming the West for the global food and energy crises and are intent on destroying Russia. He also hinted they were responsible for the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

AlertsUSA continues to monitor the domestic and international threat environment around the clock and will immediately notify service subscribers, via SMS messages to their mobile devices, of new alerts, warnings and advisories or any developments which signal a change the overall threat picture for American citizens as events warrant.

"I want to thank you for your service last night. I work weird hours at the Minneapolis Airport and left work at 11p last night. I heard sirens and decided to check my phone. You had texted at 10:58p about the riots. Knowing that I can trust AlertUSA's reporting, I made the decision to call my manager to inform him of your alert. We had many employees leaving for home and he thanked me for calling. Thank you once again for your service to our Country and the world."

Ukraine War Update+

As of October 7, 2022
What You Need To Know

According UK Ministry of Defense:

Re-purposed captured Russian equipment now makes up a large proportion of Ukraine’s military hardware.

Ukraine has likely captured at least 440 Russian Main Battle Tanks, and around 650 other armored vehicles since the invasion. Over half of Ukraine’s currently fielded tank fleet potentially consists of captured vehicles.

The failure of Russian crews to destroy intact equipment before withdrawing or surrendering highlights their poor state of training and low levels of battle discipline.

With Russian formations under severe strain in several sectors and increasingly demoralized troops, Russia will likely continue to lose heavy weaponry.

Late Addition: Kerch Bridge Explosion

Early on the morning of 10/8/2022, the strategic Kerch Bridge linking the Russian mainland to Crimea was hit by a massive explosion and fire. Built after the 2014 occupation of the southern Ukrainian peninsula, the bridge serves as the primary supply route for all Russian forces fighting in southern Ukraine.

This war just entered a new phase.

Why Erdogan Might Choose War With Greece

“The islands you occupy do not bind us, we will do what is necessary when the time comes. As we say, we can come suddenly one night.” Weeks have now passed since Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan explicitly threatened to invade Greece, using the same language he deployed before previous Turkish military operations in Syria. A myriad of issues divide Athens and Ankara, but Erdogan has now focused his rage upon Greece’s militarization of its Aegean islands. While the Greek military presence there has remained largely consistent over the last several decades, Ankara insists that it is in violation of the 1923 and 1947 treaties that established Greece’s sovereignty over the islands.

How Will the 20th National Congress Change China?

It may be a forgone conclusion that Chinese president Xi Jinping will be coronated for the third time since he assumed power in 2013 at the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Indeed, some would say that the sixty-nine-year-old “core” leader’s future path was set in 2018 when the National People’s Congress voted to abolish term limits for the presidency. However, at home, the cumulative effects of the sluggish economy, including energy and property crises, and public disenchantment with the CCP’s uncompromising “dynamic zero COVID” policy are taking a toll.

Understanding Russian Coercive Signaling

Moscow regularly uses limited military actions — far short of direct aggression but often creating escalatory risks — that have caused concern and consternation in Western capitals. It is, however, far from clear what Russia intends to signal through these actions. Different understandings of Moscow's objectives could lead to dramatically divergent interpretations of events.

In the first comprehensive analysis of Russian coercive signaling toward the United States and its allies, the authors of this report analyze these activities over recent years to provide a better understanding of the drivers of Moscow's behavior and practical guidelines for assessing future events.
